Lord Mayors Show in London

On Saturday morning some of the senior members of Syston Scout and Guide band will be parading with The Corp of Drums Society for the Lord Mayors Show in London.
If you turn on your TV to BBC One just after 10.45 you will be able to see all the sights and sounds of the parade.
“The lord mayor’s show has marched (and floated and trotted, and occasionally fought) through799 years of london history, surviving the black death and the blitz to arrive in the 21st century as what must be the oldest, grandest and best-loved civic pageant in the world.”
The Band will be number “34” in the parade, the Corps of drums society is made up from bands all around the country. “The Society was formed in 1977 for the preservation of the drum, fife and bugle music of the British Army.”
So don’t forget to tune in Saturday morning at 10.45am BBC One.
Queniborough & Syston’s Remembrance parade
**This Letter will be handed out at band**
We will be taking part in the Queniborough & Syston’s Remembrance parade on the 9th November 2014. There is a lot of rushing around with these parades, so all band members will need to know who their lift is to and from Syston. (please bring a booster seat with you if you are required by law to use one while in a car).
9.45 – Meet at Queniborough Village Hall Car park (Parade starts at 10am)
Finish at Queniborough Church and make our way to the “Brooke side car park” in Syston (opposite HSBC)
Form up at Brooke side car park (Parade to war memorial in central park)
– Then parade to St Peter and St Paul’s Church
Once fell out we need to get back to “Queniborough Church” as quickly as possible (they will be waiting for us)
Parade back to Queniborough Village Hall
– (if you do not need to go back to Syston you may finish your parade here)
Form up on “Upper Church Street” (to do the shortest Parade ever) Once fell out you may go home and rest.
Parents are well come to watch the parade and help with transport to and from locations.
PLEASE NOTE: unfortunately Beaver Scouts (Cubs) and Brownie Guides
(who have not reached their 9th birthday) are unable to Parade with the Band on public road due to Scout & Guide Insurance rules and regulations
